Originally attracted to graphic design after being introduced to typography and letterform design, I started my career producing artist books and hand printed letterpress books, using handset metal type and handmade (damped for printing) papers.

In graduate school, I was fortunate to have access to the Cary Graphic Arts Collection of rare books and the metal type lab in the Printing School at Rochester Institute of Technology (now called the School of Print Media). Both were important resources for the inspiration, research and hands on training applied to my master of fine arts degree at RIT.

The world has since zipped along at the speed of light but I still find my best ideas happily rooted in the archaic media of slugs, leading, linters and ink.
